Our School Day

Riverdale Primary School is open to pupils from 8.45 am to 3.15 pm. This provides a total opening time for pupils of 32.5 hours per week. Break times will normally be on the playground, weather permitting, and on the field in warm, dry weather.

Arriving at School

Children should arrived between 8:30am and 8:45am as lessons start promptly at 8:45am, only 5 minutes a day means 25 minutes of learning lost a week, 150 minutes every half term.

Late Arrivals

Please note that as part of our Attendance Policy children who arrive 30 minutes after the start of the school day will result in an unauthorised absence mark against their attendance.

Absence

If your child is unwell and has to stay off school, you must inform the school for the reason of the absence.  If you child is absent and we have not had a reason by 9.00am we are required to phone you to check up on the reason why your child is not in school.

If we don’t know the reason, then this will be counted as an unauthorised absence, the number of which is monitored very closely by the school and the Education Social Worker.

Appointments

If your child has an appointment during the school day you will need to inform the school office when they will be collected. Pupils should return to school after their appointment where possible.

Holidays

School are unable to authorise holidays due to Department for Education Legislation.

Personal Details

Please make sure we hold up to date emergency contact numbers, where you can be contacted, should your child have an accident or become ill whilst at school.
